IMS Problem Investigator

IBM IMS Problem Investigator for z/OS Version 2.1 is a problem analysis aid for Information Management System Database (IMS DB) and Transaction Manager (IMS TM) systems. It formats and presents log data, enabling IMS programmers and administrators to navigate, investigate, and analyze records and transactions.

IMS Problem Investigator supports IMS log and monitor records, Common Queue Server (CQS) records, and IMS Connect event data collected by IMS Connect Extensions. These records can be analyzed using an interactive system productivity facility (ISPF) dialog, as well as through a batch and REXX interface.

New features in Version 2.1 streamline log analysis by allowing you to:

• Merge log files into a single logical view using the ISPF dialog.
  • Gain an end-to-end picture of transactions in the IMSPlex
  • Track a transaction through its life-cycle across IMS Connect, IMS, and CQS
• Track and display only those records that are in the same transaction.
• Develop and run REXX execs to analyze log records and provide customized reporting.
• Use selection criteria to filter records and track all other records in the same transactions.
• Analyze transaction processing times.
• Understand IMS with improved log record description and additional global fields.
